You Always Reserve the Right to Change Your Mind

A love letter to the evolving entrepreneur inside of you.

I’m sitting here at my desk, nighttime vibes fully activated. My baby is asleep, my husband’s working out in the next room, and the house is quiet in the way that only nighttime can bring. This is my sacred space. As a former night shift nurse, I’ve always thrived in the stillness that comes when the world slows down. And tonight, I want to talk about something that’s been coming up in so many conversations lately—with clients, in DMs, even with friends:

The permission to change your mind.

Yep. That thing that feels terrifying. That can feel like a betrayal. That can stir up guilt, resentment, and fear of judgment.

But also? It’s the thing that can set you free.

Changing Your Mind Isn’t Flaky—It’s Evolution

There’s a saying I always come back to with my clients (shout out to the mentor who probably first said this to me):

“You always reserve the right to change your mind.”

Whether it’s a program you launched, a coaching offer you created, a collab you committed to, or even a personal decision like booking a trip or agreeing to an event—if something starts to feel off in your body, it’s okay to pivot.

You’re not the same person you were when you made that decision.

And continuing forward just to prove your consistency or avoid disappointing others actually might be a quiet form of self-betrayal.

The Myth of Commitment (And Why It’s Burning Us Out)

We’ve been taught that commitment = integrity. That “following through” no matter what is the gold standard of being trustworthy, reliable, and respected.

But the truth is: Commitment without alignment is just self-abandonment in disguise.

Let me tell you about a launch I did in my first year of business. I was so excited at first. I talked about it nonstop. Promoted it. Invited people in.

But halfway through, my body started whispering, “This isn’t it.” And I ignored it.

I kept going because I didn’t want to flake. I didn’t want people to think I was inconsistent. I wanted to prove that I could “stick it out.”

No one joined.

And I felt ashamed. But you know what I feel now when I look back?

PROUD.

Because that experience taught me that honoring my alignment is always more important than proving my consistency.

Your Body Knows When It’s Time to Pivot

I walk my clients through this all the time, and now I want to walk you through it too:

The Somatic Check-In.

When you're on the verge of a decision (or second-guessing one you’ve already made), pause and check in with these three layers of your body:

1. 🧠 Your Mental Body

This is your logical brain. The part that wants to keep you safe, not necessarily fulfilled.

Listen for thoughts like:

  • “But I already invested the money…”
  • “People will think I’m inconsistent.”
  • “It’s too late to change my mind.”
  • “What will they think of me?”

Then ask yourself:
Where in my body do I feel the pressure to justify this decision?

For me, it’s my chest and throat. It feels tight, hard to breathe, hard to speak.

Place your hand there. Take a breath. Ask yourself:
“Is this decision coming from fear… or alignment?”

2. đź’“ Your Emotional Body

Now drop into your feelings. Guilt. Resentment. Grief. Fear.

No judgment—just notice.

I once committed to a family trip that, the closer it got, made me feel so anxious. But guilt told me I had to go. Guilt told me I’d be letting people down. Guilt convinced me to stay the course, even though my intuition was saying no.

And now that I can name it, I feel so much more free. Because I know what to watch for next time.

Reflect:

  • Where do I feel resentment toward something I said yes to?
  • What is that emotion asking me to reclaim?

3. 🌙 Your Intuitive Body

This is the whisper. The knowing. The resonance.

Intuition doesn’t always come with a reason. It doesn’t scream. It whispers.

Think of a time you just knew something wasn’t right, even if everything looked fine on paper. A weird vibe. A gut nudge. That’s your intuitive body.

Ask yourself:

  • Where in my body do I feel “yes” or “no”?
  • What would I do if I trusted myself without needing a reason?

You Don’t Owe Anyone Your Stuckness

Let’s make this real. Here are a few examples of what self-honoring pivots might look like in your business:

  • You joined a coaching program that never felt like a full yes, and now your body is saying, “This isn’t it.”
  • You launched an offer and halfway through realize it doesn’t light you up anymore.
  • You said yes to a podcast or client or collab, and now that you’ve had time to feel into it, the answer is actually no.

The power isn’t in pushing through. The power is in realigning as soon as you realize you're out of alignment.

You Are Allowed to Change

I don’t care how far along you are. I don’t care how much you’ve invested. I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

You are allowed to evolve.
You are allowed to pivot.
You are allowed to change your mind.

And you don’t need anyone’s permission… but if you want it, I’m giving it to you. Right now.

Feeling Stuck in the Middle? I’ve Got You.

If you’re navigating a decision, or you’ve been feeling disconnected from something you once said yes to, I have two free resources I made just for you:

🌀 The Somatic Check-In Worksheet

This gentle guide will walk you through the same three-body process we just did—mental, emotional, and intuitive—so you can connect back to your truth and make decisions from alignment, not pressure.

✨ The Aligned Decision-Making Worksheet

A deeper dive for when you’re navigating big pivots in your business, your offers, or your life. This is the same worksheet I give to my private clients. It’s yours now.

I hope this spoke to you, friend. If it did, send this post to someone else who might need that little nudge… that permission to pivot, too.

You’re not stuck. You’re expanding.

And you always, always reserve the right to change your mind.
